Who am I?
Hi, I'm Mrs. Schulz and I want to thank you for taking the time to check out my website. I'm from Lancaster, PA and acquired my Secondary English Education Certification from Millersville University in 2011. I am a happily married 28 year old, who loves all things English! I also enjoy acting, fitness, art, music, traveling, cheerleading, and spending time with family, friends, and our German Shepherd, Jordan.
I graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Communications in 2007. I found it difficult to find a job in the broadcasting industry and spent sleepless nights reflecting on my career choice. Although I was hoping to fulfill my dream of being a news reporter, I found myself on a different path. I always had a passion for acting and the arts, so I became involved in Community Theater productions. Being on stage was an exhilarating experience! I loved reading, acting, and escaping into the life of another person. By putting my experience, knowledge, and self-realization of talents together, I found my niche. I would be an English teacher. I would help students enter the story-world, enlighten them on the joys of reading, show how they can apply events and characters to their own lives, and encourage them to challenge themselves and think on higher levels. My decision to further my education by receiving an English Certification is the best decision I have made.
Over the past few months, I have applied for numerous English Teacher positions in Lancaster County. Although I haven't found a full-time position, the interview experience has proved very helpful in preparation for future opportunities. I also have been substitute teaching in various school districts. Meeting a variety of students, teachers, and administrators has also given me insight into the teaching profession, practice with classroom management, and has taught me how to modify lesson plans on short notice. I've also completed the Ace-It! Certification program with Sylvan Learning Center and tutor on a weekly basis.
